Abstract

The article describes how the geopolitical situation of Ukraine and Belarus between the two big powers,
European Union and Russian Federation, opens new chances for integration as well as creats several problems. Their dual strategic belonging to East and West caused contradictory political strategies in both countries. The article analyses how the borderland situation of Ukraine and Belarus was reflected in public opinion polls in post-soviet period and which strategies dominate in both countries.
