https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/301

The article is devoted to the problem of forming effective brand management as a type of management activity.

The concepts of "brand", "branding" are quite successfully entered into everyday use, and mainly focuses on the economic aspect of these concepts. But in modern conditions, the above concepts are relevant due to social factors. If the economic aspect of brand management includes profit, the social aspect focuses on the formation of the image of the company or brand through the work or department of the company or all employees.

To form an effective brand management system, it is proposed to analyze the paradigms and models of brand management. Each of the paradigms has both positive and negative sides, but today it is important to combine only promising areas.

Each of them took into account the specifics of the external environment and the development of society. For the paradigm of the XX century is characterized, for example, the production and sale of products, while for the paradigm of the XXI century, the main thing is to form the image of the product, because competition is quite serious.

It is proposed to consider two models of brand management: western and eastern. The Western model focuses on the promotion of individual brands, while in the Eastern model the emphasis on the company is often associated with «choice». The considered models of brand management successfully function in economically developed countries. In particular, the Western model is most characteristic of North America and Western Europe, the Eastern model has become widespread in Southeast Asia. Globalization has affected in such a way that a mixed brand management system is popular today. By the way, it is also typical for Ukraine.

The fate of the formation of an effective brand management system is important to take into account various factors. Due to this, brand management will be successful for any company or organization.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/302

The theoretical bases of the analysis of the phenomena «way of living» and «lifestyle» are considered in the article. The retrospective analysis of approaches to its consideration is made. It is shown that the main markers of way of living are the types of life activity and ways of its implementation, which are normalized by socio-political, cultural or socio-economic structures in society. It has been demonstrated that way of living reflects socially typical practices. Lifestyle is a more individualized phenomenon that has particular manifestations in everyday life and is embedded in the social space by each individual or group. All approaches to the interpretation of way of living and lifestyles are grouped into three groups: a synonymous approach in which the terms «way of living» and «lifestyle» are regarded as interchangeable; an approach in which lifestyle is viewed as a narrower concept than way of living; an approach where these concepts are differentiated and treated as equivalent. On the basis of various definitions of these concepts, their comparison was made and a conclusion about the substantive sub-catherogality of the concept of «lifestyle» with respect to the concept of «way of living» was made. Possibilities of using these categories to analyze the phenomenon of individual health are considered. The necessity of the multidisciplinary nature of using of the concepts of «way of living» and «lifestyle» in its research is shown. Based on its features, it is concluded that the using of the concept of «healthy way of living» over the concept of «healthy lifestyle». The second is considered as an individualized version of the first. It is shown that the use of one of the studied concepts does not limit the possibility of using another. Their differentiation can be made depending on the concept of the research taking into account the continuums: «norm – variability», «social – individual».

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/299

The article is devoted to highlighting the contradictions and complexities of the e-learning development in the modern educational and communicative space. The article presents the consideration of e-learning as a new educational paradigm of the XXI century. The aim of the article was to highlight the contradictions in the development of e-learning in the educational and communicative space of modern society based on the analysis of its key forms, tasks, advantages and disadvantages. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the author proposed classifications and typologies of e-learning based on various criteria: the degree of involvement of educational activities into the e-learning environment, the criterion of time and institutional regulation. The following forms were identified and considered: full cycle e-learning, hybrid education, fragmentary e-learning, «mobile learning», «rapid learning», synchronous and asynchronous e-learning, formal, non-formal and informal education. The article presents the functions of e-learning as a social institution, the advantages and disadvantages of this educational model. Among the key advantages are the following: interactivity, accessibility, flexibility, efficiency and dynamism. The main disadvantages are: technical obstacles, problems of socialization and self-motivation, issues of information security and academic dishonesty, regulatory and legal support of e-learning and others. The ambiguity of assessments and uncertainty of opinions regarding e-learning leads to the conclusion that, on the one hand, the relative novelty of this phenomenon in the Ukrainian educational space, and on the other - significant prospects for further research and the need for systematic and comprehensive study.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/298

The purpose of this paper is to propose and empirically substantiate modification of SERVPERF instrument. We demonstrate difference in practical realization of SERVQUAL (Perceptions-Minus-Expectations) and modified SERVPERF (Performance-Minus-Expectation) based on qualitative and two quantitative methodological studies carried out at the Faculty of Sociology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. We used questionnaire adaptation for higher educational institutes (HEI).The sample size of the quantitative studies (10 persons of 2nd year of education, 10 persons of 3nd year of education, 10 persons of 4th year of Bachelor degree program and 5 persons of 2nd year of Master degree program; every 4th student of each year of education) complies with the used statistical test and the sample size requirements for focus groups. To compare the instruments we used nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank test implemented in the statistical programming package R. Our finding is that modified SERVPERF is more convenient for students, smaller and more useful for online surveys. So, the difference in mean values of answer’s levels is more significant between modified SERVPERF and normalized SERVQUAL than between modified SERVPERF and perceptions in SERVQUAL.

Although the research has limitation – it is reconnaissance one and made as a one of steps for adaptation and validation of models for service quality measuring in Ukrainian HEI based on survey of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv students, however, the results of this methodological study allow other researchers to conduct representative studies using an adapted questionnaire of SERVQUAL at their universities. This result is important for service quality estimation which is needed for universities to monitor and improve the quality of their services and elaborate marketing strategy now.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/295

The young generation is often overlooked in scientific discourse, although it is the youth (students) who often play a leading role in political and social change in the country. One such case is Ukraine, where it is the young people who started the largest protests in the country's thirty-year independent history. The presented article is an attempt to characterize the Ukrainian generation of «freedom» (Marzęcki, 2020) (youth people born during the period of Ukrainian independence, that are not impact of authoritarian regime socialization) from a socio-political perspective. The main research goal of this article is an endeavour to fully understand, describe and explain the attitude of the young generation (students) towards democracy (the article also includes comparisons to polish youth). This specific objective was achieved by analysing survey data. On the other hand, specific issues and problems identified at the quantitative research stage were examined based on data collected during in-depth interviews with sixteen students in Ukraine. In this sense, a second important specific goal has been achieved, i.e. diagnosis, description and explanation of behavioural patterns (political activity) dominating the social consciousness of students, which are considered justified and effective in relation to the world of politics. Author himself, conducted qualitative (IDI – 16 respondents) and quantitative research (1043 surveys) on a representative group of youth respondents in Ukraine. Quantitative research has been conducted in fourteen universities, preserving the territorial diversification. The results contained in the summary of the article, however, are not very optimistic. It is safe to say that the democratic system is in crisis, and the revolutionary cycle is still probably not completed in Ukraine.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/387

The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing for almost two years, and in anticipation of victory, Ukrainians are envisioning how their settlements will look after the end of the war – what will be restored, what will change, what they would like to see. The idea of reflecting these imaginations laid the foundation for the creative workshop-reconstruction of Ukraine, conducted in May 2023 by the Faculty of Sociology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv as part of KNU EXPO 2023. Thanks to the efforts of large sociological centers in Ukraine, the process of conducting quantitative public opinion research continues, provoking research questions about the religiosity of the population, the propensity for entertainment, responsibility for financing reconstruction, etc. But there is also a need for qualitative research on these topics. The results of using the method of mental mapping to create projects for post-war reconstruction of cities and villages of Ukraine can provide valuable information about preferences, stereotypes, and understanding of the structure and appearance of settlements in the future. The article discusses value contexts, factors of investment attractiveness, and socio-technological features of visual communication, which were reflected in the mental maps of the participants of the workshop-reconstruction of Ukraine. The results of a qualitative visual content analysis give grounds to confirm that the post-war period will bring a hypothetical preservation of the tendency to honor the church, an expected actualization of consumption of goods and services from entertainment industries, as well as diversification and synthesis of values. The most accessible for understanding and reflection are primarily hard factors of investment attractiveness, which are the most obvious and suitable for calculation. But if counting on international investors of reconstruction, it is necessary to develop a culture of vision and visualization for soft factors as well. The obtained and presented experience of moderation and analysis of mental mapping confirmed that group and individual reconstruction projects were created, as a rule, with a balanced and successful involvement of emotions both in the process of creation and in the process of perception.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/386

The article discusses the methodic SCL-9-NR as a sociological test for measuring psychological distress level (the author is S. Dembitskyi). It is an adapted and validated version of the SCL-90-R is developed by L. Derogatis. Psychological distress index is a total score of the respondent answers to SCL-9-NR items. Its values vary from 0 to 27. S. Dembitskyi also proposes dividing the psychological distress index into criterial levels. Thus it is created an ordinal categorical variable that characterizes the respondent’s distress level and consists of three value labels: normal (psychological distress index values vary from 0 to 12), increased (psychological distress index values vary from 13 to 16) and high (psychological distress index values are 17 or more). Criterial levels are established empirically and based on the results of five studies conducted in 2015-2017. But the question is whether such division of the psychological distress index can be considered reasonable.

To test the approach to dividing the psychological distress index into criterial levels an alternative classification (LCA classification) is constructed using the latent class analysis. Then we compare the LCA classification with the division psychological distress index into criterial levels (classification by criterial levels). Both classifications are correlated, but they cannot be called similar. In particular, the LCA classification fails to correctly classify respondents with an increased distress level. Respondents with normal and high distress levels are mostly classified correctly. In addition, we can guess that the SCL-9-NR items may have different weights. This is not taken into account during the calculating of the psychological distress index of and its division into criterial levels. So we not only need to create an alternative classification of respondents by the distress level, but also need to calculate psychological distress index in a different way taking into account the different weights of the SCL-9-NR items.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/385

The article examines the distribution and popularization of Ukrainian-language content on YouTube as a form of cultural resistance, with a focus on language as a tool and symbol of national and cultural identity. The main objective of this study is to analyze language preferences and interpret them in terms of cultural resistance, in order to determine whether Ukrainians choose Ukrainian-language content as a general trend or as a means of resisting the dominance of Russian-language content on YouTube. The Russian Federation often utilizes YouTube for spreading disinformation, propaganda, promoting hostile narratives, and conducting information and psychological operations. The prevalence of Russian-language content has negative consequences for Ukrainian culture and potentially undermines the nation's sovereignty and cultural integrity. Furthermore, the accumulation of Russian-language content hinders the development of Ukraine's own cultural output and increases information control by Russia. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively study and assess the phenomenon of "cultural resistance" within YouTube. This study conceptualizes cultural resistance through categories such as attitudes towards the Ukrainian language in the YouTube space, behavioral practices, and perceptions of language importance. These aspects are quantitatively explored in the article through an online survey targeting the Ukrainian YouTube audience. The results show a significant shift in preferences towards Ukrainian-language content, contrasting with the situation observed in 2021. The data confirms a statistically significant correlation between understanding the importance of language and choosing Ukrainian as the language for consuming content on YouTube. The study demonstrates that the preference for Ukrainian-language content is an active component of cultural resistance on the YouTube digital platform, rather than a passive choice. These findings highlight the strategic role of language in shaping cultural resistance and provide a framework for understanding this complex concept in the digital age.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/384

The situation of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic and Poland significantly differs from their Syrian counterparts in terms of acceptance. Ukrainians were offered temporary protection and this is associated with receiving humanitarian aid, housing, social and health insurance and free entrance on the labor market and all levels of education. They were also widely accepted by public, regional administrations and non-governmental organizations. However, in spite of their dispositions, they still struggle with livelihood in both countries due to weaker integration policies. This article is based on semi-structural interviews with fifty-seven Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic and Poland, and it shows that despite their prospective dispositions, educational level and general acceptance, they often work in low-skilled jobs due to weak language proficiency and this hinders their adaptation. Thus they often fall into a precarious position although some of them may still feel satisfied as holders of temporary protection.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/383

In this article, the authors attempt to identify potential trends in the integration of Ukrainian society during the post-war period. The scholarly reflection is grounded in substantiating the influence of social expectations on the integrative direction of social interactions.

The empirical basis of the article relies on two datasets collected by the authors in 2020 and 2023 (2020 - a survey of adult residents of regional centers in Ukraine, excluding the AR of Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, using the CATI method, N=1500; 2023 - a survey conducted through the online panel "SunFlower Sociology," utilizing self-administered questionnaires by the adult population of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories, N=600).

Empirical investigations have shown that social actors feel the need to minimize the state of social uncertainty by enhancing social interaction with each other. This is done to gather information about the possible behavior of the "other" and to forecast potential reactions and consequences of actions in the current social situation in Ukraine. This factor is pivotal in the development of integrative social relations, representing a specific model of interaction among society members in the post-war period. The prevalence among respondents (in comparison to 2020) of an active strategy in response to social uncertainties indicates a decrease in distancing from other social actors and social infantilization. This is foster increased social interaction and integration within society. This trend is positive, as individuals from different generations form their own social expectations under this strategy, demonstrating an interest in minimizing social uncertainties caused by Russia's overt military aggression.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/382

Following the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory in 2014, volunteer movements aimed at protecting Ukraine from the Russian invasion began to actively develop in Ukraine. Since then, volunteering has encompassed all spheres of Ukrainian social life. After the full-scale invasion by Russia in 2022, there was another surge in volunteer activity. This article analyzes the results of a study on the state of the volunteer movement, its transformation, as well as the motives for participating or ceasing participation in volunteer movements. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that the volunteer movement plays a key role in responding to social, political, and economic challenges, especially in the context of Russian aggression. Therefore, understanding what motivates people to engage in volunteering helps to identify the main moral, emotional, and social factors that shape this movement. Thus, the importance of this research lies in identifying the key stimuli that encourage active citizen participation in volunteer initiatives, which in turn strengthens social cohesion and promotes the development of civil society. The aim of the study was to gain a deep understanding of the motivations, values, and assessments of different research groups. The research methodology was a series of focus group discussions with representatives of three target groups: volunteers, business representatives, and government officials.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/381

This article explores gendered narratives of grief for fallen servicemen and women in the course of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine after February, 24 2022. While the public image of a soldier typically represents a plethora of traditionally masculine features, the public nature of the private grief in the age of digitalization challenges this image. Moreover, a rather significant participation of women in combat roles adds to the distortion of the traditional expressions of grief in a public space. Another prominent factor is the sheer scale of invasion and the proximity of the soldiers to the civilians, which forges the bonds of micro-solidarities and changes the perception of the military. Drawing on the narrative analysis of the public expressions of grief in the social media, this text explores how the decentralization of grief granted by the social media and the changed demographical landscape among the soldiers are echoed in the process of mourning online.

This article focuses solely on the death of the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the volunteers who died as the result of the military action and does not touch upon the death of Russian servicemen and/or deaths of the soldiers and volunteers that occurred beyond the combat zone and military action.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/380

In the article, the authors analyzed the key stages and the current state of the institutionalization of mediation. Based on a qualitative analysis using semi-structured in-depth interviews with expert mediators, the prerequisites for the further development of mediation as a social institution are outlined. Appearing at the beginning of the formation of market relations in Ukraine as a set of informal practices and norms in Ukraine, mediation later turned into formalized organizational structures. The Profile Law of Ukraine «On Mediation» laid the fundamental legal basis for the application of mediation. In Ukrainian society, a network of educational programs preparing specialists in the field of mediation (including at the level of higher education institutions) is being formed. The development of mediation in Ukraine is restrained by a number of factors: the low level of legal culture of citizens and limited awareness of the mediation procedure as an alternative out-of-court settlement of disputes, which, in turn, leads to an insufficient level of trust of citizens in mediation compared to traditional court proceedings; peculiarities of the national legal system, which inhibit the introduction of alternative methods of conflict resolution; limited support of the institution of mediation from state bodies. The effectiveness of further institutionalization and dissemination of mediation in Ukraine involves: improvement of the legislative framework taking into account international experience; development of legal documents that will detail the application of mediation procedures in various spheres of public life; introduction of mechanisms for the use of the mediation procedure within the framework of judicial proceedings; conducting information campaigns aimed at the development of mediation culture in society; distribution of courses on the basics of conflict resolution and mediation in school and university programs; development of the support system and raising the professional level of mediators; implementation of the procedure for professional accreditation of mediators based on uniform standards and requirements for their qualifications; development of the procedure for accreditation of educational institutions and certificate programs for the training of mediators; introduction of the mechanism of accreditation of centers providing mediation services.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/378

The article examines the peculiarities of cultural practices among Ukrainian youth in the conditions of a full-scale war. The research identified the most popular cultural practices among Ukrainian youth. It revealed the obstacles that prevent young people from attending cultural events more frequently. Special attention was given to identifying the most desired cultural services. Based on the respondents' answers, a matrix of cultural needs satisfaction was formed, which established a zone of cultural needs deficit. This zone represents those needs that have the highest demand among young people but remain unsatisfied. It includes festivals, cultural-historical excursions, comedy concerts, evenings, art exhibitions, and public lectures. The study also revealed the specifics of consuming cultural online products among young people and the level of demand for cultural events of this format. It was also found that almost every fifth young Ukrainian is currently involved in volunteer projects in the cultural sphere. However, nearly half of the surveyed youth do not participate in such events but express a desire to get involved. This indicates that young people have a demand for participation in volunteer cultural projects, and therefore, it is important to involve youth in various initiatives for the reconstruction and development of Ukrainian culture as a significant agent of social change.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/372

The article attempts to scientifically reflect the prerequisites and semantic causes of russian aggression, which lie in an attempt to level Ukrainian identity as the determining basis for the existence and development of the nation. The idea of destroying everything Ukrainian has been dragging on for centuries, choosing different forms and methods. One of its tools was an artificially created inferiority complex, which was embodied through Russification.

The russian-soviet empire tried for centuries to destroy the Ukrainian language, limiting the publication of books, modifying words and terms. Even during independence, there was a politicization of the language issue. The Ukrainian culture was also distorted, which the empire showed as primitive. The real history was replaced by pseudo-historical facts, which said that the Ukrainians do not have their own elite.

To restore national identity, it is necessary to revive the historical memory that forms the historical consciousness and cultural code of the nation. It is they who testify that we are one nation, with its own territory, culture.

In order to realize themselves and take their place among the peoples of the world, Ukrainians need objects of modern pride from the technological, scientific, information or economic spheres that would be progressive and characterize Ukraine as a postmodern and innovative state.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/373

The purpose of the article is to study the key scientific paradigms of the ethnogenesis of the Ukrainian people in the context of the development of ethnosociological theories. The article analyzes the problem of the multi-vector nature of scientific approaches to the formation of ethnicity and inter-ethnic interaction. The author has made an attempt to correlate the methodological possibilities of cultural and structural approaches of ethnosociological research in relation to the formation of social prerequisites for the emergence of the Ukrainian political nation.

The key concepts of ethnogenesis were also described, taking into account possible methodological and ideological variations that determine the social nature of social interaction during the decision-making process of choosing ethnicity. In addition, the article highlights two main conceptual positions of scientists explaining the concepts of «ethnogenesis» and «ethnos»: «primordialism» and «constructivism». «Primordialism» presupposes the real existence of ethnic groups, and also proceeds from the common consanguineous origin of all members of the ethnic group. The concept of «constructivism» (instrumentalism) insists that an ethnos can be constructed, and this is done, as a rule, by the elite. The most modern and at the same time debatable ethno-institutional constructivist approach was also described, in which ethnogenesis is seen as the process of formation of ethnic groups through social ethno-institutions. This becomes particularly relevant in the conditions of active information warfare by the aggressor country against Ukrainian statehood and the historical heritage of the Ukrainian people.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/374

The article provides an analytical review of conceptual approaches to defining transaction costs in socio-humanitarian discourse. Various approaches to interpreting the concept of transaction costs are examined, including in such sciences as economics (economic theory), political science, law, and sociology. Alongside the description of traditional aspects, the role of institutional factors in determining the level of transaction costs in different social, political, legal, and economic contexts is also considered. Special attention is paid to the theory of contracts, as well as economic and non-economic factors that influence the formation of transaction costs. It is pointed out that defining transaction costs is of great importance for analyzing the socio-economic sphere, enabling the enhancement of resource management efficiency and the making of effective management decisions, improving interactivity, and determining strategic development directions. The results of the conducted analytical review and definition of key essential concepts in the sphere of transaction costs enable the consideration of this problem in a complex dimension and responding appropriately to the challenges that arise in today’s globalized world.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/376

The purpose of the article is to study the migration strategies of Ukrainian youth in the context of russian armed aggression. The article analyses the problem of young Ukrainians actively going abroad and the formation of the preconditions for a large-scale demographic crisis provoked by military actions. Particular attention is paid to a number of empirical studies by the Chicago School of Sociology, which framed the scientific paradigm of migration within the framework of the theory of assimilation. The authors made an attempt to analyse in detail the possible threats and risks that the loss of labour and intellectual capital due to the outflow of young people outside the country will cause, resulting in a slowdown in economic development and intensification of the nation's ageing processes, which is extremely important in the context of armed conflict.

The authors also describe the key results of a sociological survey that identified the main criteria that attract young people and make them migrate to the EU. The authors make a comparative analysis of the respondents' aspirations to go abroad and the real opportunities and actions aimed at implementing the emigration strategy.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/377

The article discusses two methods designed to measure the quality of educational services are included in the UNiDOS monitoring survey. There are modified SERVPERF and modified SERVSAT. They consist of the same questions that characterize various aspects of the educational process but have different scales. The modified SERVSAT involves direct measurement of satisfaction with educational process. The modified SERVPERF measures satisfaction indirectly. It compares respondents’ expectations about educational process and the reality. We tried to find out whether modified SERVPERF and modified SERVSAT can be considered equivalent. In general, these methods give the same results. They have the same factor structure. The questions grouped into five dimensions: Tangibles, Reliability, Assurance, Responsiveness, Empathy. But there are also differences that do not allow us to definitively claim that the methods are equivalent. Comparing the means shows that the scale of the modified SERVPERF is slightly shifted to the left relatively to the scale of the modified SERVSAT. Analysis of the percentage of respondents who did not decide on the answer shows the following. The modified SERVPERF works better when the respondent has certain expectations about some aspect of the educational process. The modified SERVSAT works better when the respondent has a clear idea about real situation regarding some aspect of the educational process.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/297

One of today’s problems is the lag of education from the development of society's demands for specialists. This problem is studied from the standpoint of two strategies – quantitative gives an idea of the shortage and oversaturation of the market by certain groups of professionals, quantitative assessments of the quality of educational services, the relationship of educational programs and levels of education etc. Qualitative help to understand the reasons and mechanisms of formation of these estimations.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the attitude of employers (on the example of IT, sociology and marketing) to the quality of education in universities and the importance of potential employees with a bachelor's or master's degree, as well as students' attitude to master's degree in these areas and motives to reach the master's degree. It will allow us to understand the importance of the master's degree to the bachelor's degree in the fields of sociology, marketing or IT.

The article analyzes a set of focused interviews of students of the faculties of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and employers in appropriate fields, clarifies employers` instructions for graduates of the master's degree.

Employers generally rate the level of employees` training as sufficient. The difference between the master's and bachelor's degrees of employees for them is not significant in the process of hiring employees in these areas. When giving the requirements for employees, in addition to a set of appropriate Hard Skills, basic communication skills, knowledge of English and Ukrainian, responsibility, and other Soft Skills are in great importance.

Students attach more importance to narrow disciplines. At the same time, their desire to enter the master's program is mainly related either to the need to improve their professional skills, or to the desire to obtain a second higher education in another related specialty.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/296

The aim of the article is to study new models of educational practices that became the most common in Ukrainian society during the period of crisis associated with quarantine conditions, accompanied by forced self-isolation of citizens and determining roles in online learning, allowing formulating new strategies for adapting to the conditions of limiting social activity. Since this problem is currently relevant for the Ukrainian society, which is trying to adapt to fundamentally new realities of life, due to quarantine restrictions and a high level of risks to the health of citizens, the authors conducted their own sociological research using the method of Internet survey of the population of Kiev and Kiev region. Its results made it possible to identify trends in the educational practices of Ukrainians under quarantine. Particular attention is paid to the study of age-related features of awareness and perception of online education, as well as the analysis of new educational practices that have begun to be applied comprehensively with the old ones. The study of the reaction of ordinary citizens to the crisis and the study of models of society’s adaptation to existing realities allowed the authors to review the processes of personality choice of behavioral strategies, social action strategies, and educational practices, focusing on the fact that previously developed adaptation methods do not work, and social reality requires the creation of new adaptation models.

The results of a sociological study fully confirmed the hypothesis about the essential role of educational practices in society. Non-formal education has become a mechanism for Ukrainians to adapt to crisis phenomena and social transformations. There was a tendency towards an increase in the interest of the older age group in non-formal types of education and a decrease in the interest of young people in formal education, which turned out to be unprepared for such challenges as the transition to on-line. The complex of crises that Ukrainian society is experiencing has become a certain impetus for ordinary citizens to improve the mechanisms of social adaptation, one of which under the fundamentally new living conditions was non-formal education.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/300

The subject of the paper is sociological theorizing about the concept of «ideology». The results of this theorizing, which is represented by disparate author's approaches, are not systematized in modern sociology. Therefore, in sociology there is no universal theoretical basis and tools for the study of ideologies. As a result, ideology is pushed beyond sociological focus. We systematize the main sociological approaches to understanding ideology in order to formulate on their basis a universal sociological definition of ideology. We distinguish three conditional blocks of sociological approaches to understanding ideology according to the criterion of the origin of ideology. The first block is concepts in which ideology is presented as an artificial construct, purposefully used for political and managerial purposes. The second block is the concepts according to which ideology grows out of a group lifestyle as a living social phenomenon. The third block consists of approaches that combine both options to varying degrees. These approaches allow both the natural social emergence of ideology and its construction as an instrument of influence and control. The generalization and systematization of the approaches considered gives us the foundation for formulating the following definition of ideology. Ideology is the unity of judgments and practices, which reinforces the non-alternativeness of judgment and declares the invariance of practice; while judgment and practice are interdependent. We refuse to recognize the ideology as «false» or «wrong» about reality. We affirm that the distortion of reality by ideology is of the same nature as in any other form of social consciousness. It is due to the imperfection of the human senses, which give consciousness information about the material world. At the same time, ideology is twofold: as a reflection of reality, it is part of it, just as consciousness is part of reality. The dual nature of ideology makes sense the denial of ideology and actualizes criticism of ideology as revealing its disguised impact on the social order and processes.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/369

The article reveals the problem of providing IDPs in host communities during the full-scale military invasion of russia on the territory of Ukraine. The objective of the research is to identify future challenges and prospects for the development of organizations in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine, аnd identifying the needs of internally displaced persons in the autumn-winter period as well. Most of the interviewed IDPs are unable to return home due to the hostilities and plan to stay in the host communities for autumn and winter. The leaders of the organizations identified that they are quite clear about their needs for sustainability. These needs are only partially covered by grants and donor funds. The exchange of resources and information allows organizations to respond to challenges more effectively. On the example of civil society organizations that implemented their activities to assist IDPs within the Shelter Ukraine initiative, the needs of displaced persons, communities and organizations that accompany the resettlement of displaced citizens are identified and prioritized. Recommendations for representatives of civil society to optimize the work for the autumn-winter period 2022–23 are provided. The findings are aimed at helping to determine the priorities of civil society organizations to assist war-affected categories of citizens.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/368

The article is devoted to the relevance of the social values of liberal-democratic societies during the war, their structural features, and their role in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The corresponding values include safety, diversity, selectivity, normativity, freedom, equality, order, stability, development, independence, and strength.

The empirical part of the study is based on the results of an online survey conducted in July 2022. The sample size is 2,350 respondents (women – 51,3 %, men – 48,7 %, average age – 37,3 years). The structure of the sample repeats the structure of the urban population of Ukraine aged 18 to 55 at the beginning of the war in settlements with 50 thousand inhabitants or more for all regions, except the following groups: 1) population on the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions temporarily occupied at the beginning of the war, as well as AR Crimea; 2) population on other territories of Luhansk region; 3) population on the territories of Kherson region.

The ranking of societal values (Condorcet method) was established: safety (80,5 %), strength (63,8 %), order (61,3 %), normativity (58,9 %), equality (53,6 %), liberty (48,4 %), stability (44,0 %), independence (37,4 %), development (35,6 %), diversity (34,1 %), selectivity (32.3 %).

Two clusters are identified in the structure of societal values. The first includes order, safety, diversity, selectivity, normativity, liberty, and equality. In general, this value cluster emphasizes the need for internal balance, which is a fundamental guarantee of national resilience during a large-scale war, as it preserves the ability of society to generate additional resources needed by the state. The second value cluster includes strength, development, independence, and stability. This substructure is related to that part of national resilience responsible for responding to external crises and challenges.

Forecasts were made regarding the priority relevance of almost all societal values in the period of post-war reconstruction: 1) safety due to the damage caused by the war to the population and territories of Ukraine; 2) strength due to the successes of Ukraine in the defense and diplomatic spheres; 3) order due to the inadmissibility of cleavage narratives in society; 4) normativity due to the request for implementation of the rule of law; 5) equality due to the need for support of broad sections of the population from the state; 6) liberty due to the need of gradual easing of restrictions that arose due to the war; 7) stability due to the constant demand for it in peacetime; 8) development due to its fundamental importance for the national subjectivity of Ukraine; 9) diversity due to modern landmarks of civilizational development; 10) selectivity due to the need for effective management decisions.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/367

The article considers such a category of migrants as solo refugees. The author substantiates the need to study this category of refugees from the economic, political, and psychological points of view. Solo migrants face several specific challenges. So, the purpose of this article is to characterize and describe the life strategies used by refugees who find themselves abroad in the status of solo refugees. The study is a pilot study and was conducted using the method of semi-structured interviews. The interviews were divided into main thematic blocks that consider the history of the decision to leave the country; the process of adaptation in a new country and the main difficulties; the process of organizing work; daily and communicative aspects of life, as well as emotional self-awareness; vision of life prospects. Two main categories of solo refugees were distinguished: those who have decided to stay in host countries for a long time and those who are in a «suspended» state. Features of each of these two strategies have been outlined. The possibilities for further research of this category of refugees were also outlined.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/366

The crisis of forced migrants from Ukraine due to the war became one of the biggest in Europe in the 20th–21st centuries. A large increase in the number of refugees due to the war in Ukraine occurred after the start of the active phase of hostilities on February 24, 2022. Germany remains one of the countries that received the largest number of forced migrants from Ukraine. It is relevant to study the living conditions, employment, lifestyle, leisure time, well-being and future plans of forced migrants from Ukraine in Germany (using the example of the city of Konstanz). We conducted an exploratory web survey: respondents were interviewed using a formalized questionnaire with a series of open-ended questions implemented on the LimeSurvey online platform. Based on the results of the analysis, the main problems faced by Ukrainian refugees in the city of Konstanz were identified: living conditions and the lack of places in kindergartens. Both problems are characteristic of this city for many years before the war in Ukraine. Among the main features that distinguish forced migrants from Ukraine in connection with the war is a large share of highly qualified persons and persons with completed higher education. Plans for further stay in Germany or return to Ukraine deserve special attention – almost half of the respondents said that they plan to stay in Germany forever, and almost all the rest - to return to Ukraine as soon as it becomes possible. This information also brings new challenges for the country's migration policy and needs further discussion.

In addition, a high sensitivity to questions about the property and financial status in Ukraine before the start of the Russian attack in 2022 was revealed.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/365

The article provides a thorough analysis of Hryhorii Skovoroda’s doctrine of happiness. The philosopher’s understanding of the phenomenon of man and his place in the Universe is revealed. Attention is focused on the fact that the whole philosophy of Hryhorii Skovoroda is aimed at teaching to recognize a person in oneself, to identify him and to be him. And Hryhorii Skovoroda’s doctrine of man is based on his theory of two natures and three worlds, which shows the visible and invisible natures and how to achieve the transformation of the outer man into the inner one. It is also determined that Hryhorii Skovoroda was convinced that it is man who should be given the main role in the Universe due to the ability to self-knowledge. After all, the ability of a person to be happy will work for the public good. The main thing is to determine your place in the Universe. It is substantiated that it is he who for the first time in the history of Ukrainian philosophy outlines the field of reasoning about man, about his identity in time, about the essence of man, about the meaning of life, determines the range of anthropological problems, cognizes man in both ontological and epistemological and axiological dimensions. The study of Hryhorii Skovoroda’s doctrine of happiness is conducted in the socio-philosophical dimension of modern society.

https://sociostudios.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/socio/article/view/364

The article examines the importance of the gender factor in Ukraine’s war against the Russian aggressor and the role of gender transformations in modern Ukrainian society, their impact on reforms in the Armed Forces. The concepts of «crisis of masculinity» and «crisis of femininity» are analyzed in accordance with the military realities of the present time – the unprovoked armed aggression of Putin’s Kremlin neo-empire against sovereign Ukraine. Attention is focused on the stereotypes of the mass consciousness regarding gender roles in modern Ukrainian society and research is conducted on the processes of genderization that take place in the Ukrainian social space, primarily in the Armed Forces. It is proven that the choice of the European path of development and Ukraine’s desire to join NATO are a prerequisite for carrying out serious gender transformations in Ukrainian society, aimed at equalizing social, career, and status opportunities for women and men. It is noted that this process was and continues to be most effective in the Ukrainian army. About 38,000 women soldiers are serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces today. About 7,000 of them are fighting at «zero».

As a result of the conducted gender analysis of real processes related to military actions against rashists on the territory of Ukraine, it is concluded that neither the crisis of masculinity nor the crisis of femininity are the main indicators of its viability and stability in Ukrainian society. On the contrary, positive gender transformations are taking place, which will ensure effective interaction between women and men and are a real basis for the establishment of human rights and parity (gender) democracy in Ukraine. Attention is drawn to the need to overcome gender stereotypes of the mass consciousness for a more effective introduction of the principles of the existence of civilized societies into the life activities of the Ukrainian community.
