Abstract

The aging of the population and increasing the number of older people as a result of declining birth rates and increasing life expectancy is an irreversible global trend that has complex socio-economic and political implications. Complex demographic changes require the readiness of modern societies for the economic and social shifts associated with population aging. This problem has covered today the whole world and Ukraine in particular. This situation significantly actualizes the study of complex problems of the process of aging of the individual in modern conditions. It can be argued that the aging of the population touches on all aspects of society, including health care, social security, education, socio-cultural activities, family life and the labor market. Accordingly, scientists, politicians and economists are looking for ways to overcome this problem.
The purpose of the article is to analyze the factors that contribute to improving the level of physical, social and cognitive well-being of older people.
The features of the concept of active aging are analyzed in the article. The active aging is seen as a process of developing and maintaining functional ability to ensure well-being of the elderly by the World Health Organization. Active aging is identified as an important process: support for subjective well-being, physical and mental health as well as the social integration of older people. Accordingly, the implementation of active aging policies in modern conditions determines the balancing of personal responsibility and the formation of a favorable environment in public practice for all ages.
